Volunteer Appreciation Video

How do you thank a church full of volunteers with words? It is difficult to express how thankful we are for our crosspointechurch.tv volunteers. 2010 has been another amazing year! God has done incredible things over the past 12 months. Therefore, in order to say "thank you" our staff put together a funny video to express our gratitude. This is it!!!

God Sees Me

"Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, who had spoken to her. She said, You are the God who sees me. She also said, Have I truly seen the One who sees me? (Genesis 16:13 NLT)

It amazes me that God even cares about me; He sees me! In my greatest times of loneliness and despair I can be reminded that God is called El-Roi which means; He sees me. Since God cares about those who are less fortunate and poor, the slaves and the outcasts then I should too. Who can I encourage that is feeling alone and living in despair?

How to Read the Bible

Have you ever read the Bible and after you put it down, you could not remember what you just read? Here is a great way to read the Bible, remember what you read, and apply it to your life. It's a method called life journaling or S.O.A.P. - Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer. Also, here is a free Bible reading plan for the entire year: www.oneyearbibleonline.com

If he only knew

If he only knew whose neck he wrapped his little arms around, the fancy hotels, the gourmet meals, and the luxurious lifestyle I enjoyed. There was such a vast difference between us. He had no money, no food, and no education, only the clothes on his back and a place to live; if you can call it that. But in that moment, none of it mattered. It was as if time stood still. As he clung to my back, I raced upon the grassy field, galloping like a horse. That night, he and I soared through the warm, humid air of Cambodia. Then it happened. He began to giggle. Suddenly, it was as if he and I could understand each other completely. In that moment, nothing else mattered. His lack of money, food, and shelter, were the furthest things from our minds. It was a glimpse of heaven, for both of us. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." (Matthew 19:14 NIV)

Satan our Adversary

Have you ever tried to learn another language? Maybe English is your second language. I tried to learn Tagalog (Filipino) but it was so difficult. Think about how easy it is to speak your native language?

John 8:44 (NIV) “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

Satan’s native language is lying. He has no accent, he does not struggle, and he is fluent in lying. That is why he is so good at it.

What lie is Satan trying to convince you of right now? Leave your spouse? Live for your career? Or Live for self?

Satan wants you to believe a lie. He wants you to live for yourself. However, you and I need to live for Christ. Philippians 1:21(NIV) “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”

Stop believing the lies and start living for Christ today!

Be Real

As a kid do you remember wanting to be somebody famous? A pop star, actor, or maybe even the president? Sometimes it is more fun pretending to be someone you are not.

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like." (James 1:22-24)

Do you just listen to the Word and leave it at that or do you do what it says? God's Word is like a mirror, it reveals not conceals. We must look intently into the mirror of God's Word. 1. Study it. 2. Obey it. 3. Be blessed by doing it.

Will you be real with yourself and God? Will you ask the person in the mirror to make a change? We need to stop pretending to be someone else and be real.

Dad's Footsteps

"Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us a a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God" (Ephesians 5:1-2).

Do you look like your Heavenly Father? Do you walk, talk, and act like Him? As a child of God, you are called to imitate your "Father." Even when you do not look like your "Father," He will never stop loving you!

Precious Moments

This morning I was blow-drying my boy’s hair, they are only 9 and 7 years old. Man, do they grow up fast. Unfortunately, I know the day is coming when my boys will be all grown up. I won’t be able to dry their hair anymore, help get them dressed, or give them a bath. Life is so short! I want to make the most out of every opportunity with my boys while their young.

The Bible says in Ephesians 5:15-16, “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Do you want to make the most out of every opportunity? Sometimes, I have a tendency to view the little things in life as inconveniences; such as, having to get our children ready for school, taking out the trash, fixing the car, or going to work. But what if I viewed those things from a different perspective? What if I saw those things as opportunities? Blessings?

What are some things in your life that if viewed from a different perspective, could actually be blessings? How can you make the most of every opportunity today?

Build A Bridge

It has always bothered me that racism has plagued our society. Many have fought to end it, several have dreamed to crush it, and the innocent have died because of it. Unfortunately, racism is still a problem today.

What can you do today to break down the wall of racial barriers and build a bridge among the people you encounter? How will you demonstrate love to people of different races and ethnic backgrounds?
